<KICCE held a joint meeting on "Consultation and Implementation Strategies for Early Childhood Care Policies" with Representative Ahn Sanghoon, the 22nd National Assembly>
The Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) held a joint meeting on "Consultation and Implementation Strategies for Early Childhood Care Policies" with Representative Ahn Sanghoon, the 22nd National Assembly member, on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the KICCE. The meeting was attended by Representative Ahn Sanghoon, officials from five government departments and committees, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the Presidential Committee on Aging Society and Population Policy, as well as Hwang Ock Kyeung, President of the KICCE, Choi Eun-Young, Head of the Planning and Coordination Department, and Professor Jung Jae-hoon of Seoul Women's University.
Following the opening remarks by President Hwang Ock Kyeung and Representative Ahn Sanghoon, officials from each department shared the current status of the key national agenda on early childhood care and discussed future strategies and cooperation plans. Subsequently, Choi Eun-Young, Head of the Planning and Coordination Department at KICCE, presented on "Future Directions for Early Childhood Care Policies in Response to Low Birth Rates," addressing the changes in early childhood education and care policies due to societal shifts, key issues in each policy area, and future directions.
The various departments and committees proposed roles and related tasks for the KICCE as a national research institute necessary for policy implementation. They suggested ongoing cooperation and continuous consultations starting from today's meeting to develop measures to address the low birth rate.
